The winner of Ontario most recent multi-million lottery prize has come forward, as reported by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). The lucky man is 54-year-old Manoharan Ponnuthurai who is now $70 million richer, thanks to his Lotto Max ticket.

Ponnuthurai's Quick Pick ticket is the winner of the December 17, 2021 draw and while a sum of this nature is the stuff of dreams, the winner has opted against early retirement for now.

Bright Future

The OLG shared that Ponnuthurai intends to continue in his role where he manages a small manufacturing company that employs several people who are dependent on him for their income.

He explained that he had won the prize by playing his usual lottery numbers and that he had been playing lottery games for close to 30 years in the hopes of one day securing a life-changing prize. His Quick Pick ticket was purchased at the Circle K at Torbram Road and Countryside Drive in Brampton.

While the winner himself may not be stepping back from his work duties, his wife will be and perhaps also taking the opportunity to pursue her studies further. The family also plans to travel, with Europe and the Mediterranean Sea in their sights, as well as using some of the winnings to give back to their local community.

Lotto Max has also been making waves in other provinces with a $50 million prize claimed by a Saskatoon ticket holder from the January 7 draw. The identity of the winner is still unknown, but they have up to 52 weeks to step forward and claim their jackpot.

Barrie Winner Yet to Emerge

This isn’t the only recent huge win to come out of Ontario. The OLG announced recently that the Lotto 6/49 jackpot has an as yet unidentified winner who resides somewhere in Barrie. The ticket in question was the winner of the January 13, 2022 draw and is worth an astounding $36.4 million.

Lotto Max winner Manoharan Ponnuthurai said he couldn’t believe his eyes when his lucky number came up.
