We finally get to learn the identities of the lotto winners who took home $60 million in Winnipeg. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) published the names and pictures of John Chua, his wife Jhoana Chua, his mother Angie Chua, and his uncle Ben Lagman.

This is the biggest ever lottery win in Manitoba. John was at first struck by disbelief when he learned of the win.

He had bought the ticket online on Play Now and on the morning when the winning ticket was announced, he checked his account but didn't see any notifications. Everything changed when he received an email from Play Now later that day.

"I thought it might be a Free Play or something. But it said $60 million. I was confused, so I checked on when I got home," John said.

His winning ticket displayed the numbers 11, 21, 23, 25, 28, 41, and 43.

His family was similarly awestruck by the news. His mother said that she didn't believe her son at first, saying, "He always plays jokes, he's a joker, so I didn't believe it,"

The family has not decided on their plans for the money, but John is adopting a conservative approach. "I just want to take the time and do the smart thing," he said.

The previous Lotto Max record in Manitoba was a $50 million win in 2009. The previous record for a Winnipeg win was $27.2 million from a Lotto 6/49 in 2005.
