A south-western Ontario man celebrated his 82nd birthday in incomparable style, winning $371,937 by playing the Lightning Lotto.
According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, William Bradley won the jackpot on January 29, at the Pioneer Snack Express in Arthur, Ontario.
“The first time I played Lightning Lotto I won $17 so I’ve been playing it ever since,” Bradley said while collecting his winnings. “The clerk at the store was so excited for me. I was calm and cool; she asked me what was wrong because I wasn’t as excited as her.”
The farmer decided to purchase the winning ticket while out running errands on his birthday. When asked what plans he had for his winnings, he said that he might purchase some land and share some of the prize with his family. Bradley also hopes to travel once it is safe to do so with hopes of visiting the shores of Ireland.
Lightning Lotto first appeared in October 2020 and offers players on-the-spot winning opportunities when they match numbers with those drawn earlier that day. The Lotto’s top prize starts at $125,000 and increases with ticket sales.
