Industry insights and a recent research study claims that tablet and mobile users spend more on game purchases and experts believe that the current market trend will continue along this trajectory.
The market report released by Juniper Research shows there is a rise in the tablet and mobile casino industries. The research document is titled: "Mobile and Handheld Games: Discover, Monetise, Advertise 2014-2019". The data suggests that profit from the mobile gaming industry will increase by 38% by 2016.
Juniper researchers stated that gaming companies who offered games developed specially for the mobile market would make $28.9 billion in profit by 2016, compared to the current figure of $20.9 billion. This doesn't only apply to iPhone slots games but also playing iPad slots online.
Another interesting snippet from this paper mentions that tablet users spend more time on in-game purchases than customers who use smartphones. This may be due to the fact that tablets perform better, are easy to use and have better graphics. The reality is, more users are migrating from mobile gaming to playing on their tablets.
The research paper also showed that software developers are beginning to focus less on getting large numbers of unique players. Instead, they are trying to extend the player lifecycle by engaging and analysing consumer usage.
Industry experts will be investigating new markets and looking towards Latin America, Eastern Europe and South East Asia in the future, as the smartphone market is expected to make more revenue from in-game purchases in these areas.
