Ontario’s primary service provider for its northern and southwest gaming bundles, Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited officially opened its Cascades Casino North Bay property on March 9th, 2022.
The venue is situated in North Bay, Ontario and boasts a 39 000 sq. ft. casino with a full-service bar and gaming options, including 300 slots, 10 electronic tables and 6 live dealer table games. Visitors to the property will also be able to experience Gateway’s signature restaurant brand, MATCH Eatery & Public House. This modern pub offers sports and live entertainment with a large three-season outdoor patio.
Job Creation
In an official press release, the company claimed that the $41 million development has generated 200 new jobs for the surrounding area
Gateway’s President and CEO Tony Santo called the opening “an exciting and long-awaited day for North Bay, Gateway Casinos and all our customers and employees.”
“This new attraction is testimony to the resiliency and determination of many over the past two years as the pandemic created many challenges. Today we unveil a state-of-the-art entertainment destination that families and friends can enjoy from all around the region,” he added.
Making a Splash
A grand opening event is in the pipeline for the new venue that will include an official opening ceremony later in the spring.
Including the new construction, Gateway boasts a portfolio of 26 prominent gaming properties including its Cascades properties in Chatham, Ontario and Kamloops, Langley and Penticton in British Columbia.
The company was founded in 1992 and has grown into a mega-corporation with over 8000 employees. Across its venues, it offers 421 table games, 14 162 slots, and over 80 food and beverage outlets. Visitors looking to stay at their various properties can also choose from the 561 hotel rooms on offer.
Gateway Casinos has a 20-year provider agreement with the Ontario Lottery And Gaming Corporation (OLGC), granting it the responsibility of the operation of existing facilities owned by the OLGC in Woodstock, Thunder Bay, Point Edward, Sault Ste Marie, Hanover, Dresden, Sudbury, Clinton and London. The operator is also planning to erect new gaming venues close to the northern cities of Kenora and North Bay.
