Microgaming to develop a brand new slot based on the famous cult classic Highlander

Microgaming is in the news again. And, this time for having signed a licensing agreement with StudioCanal – the famous French production giant, to develop yet another exciting slot game based on the 1980’s action flick – Highlander.

Highlander was released in the year 1986 and starred none other than Sean Connery, Christophe Lambert, and Clancy Brown. Queen rendered the music for this action blockbuster. Shifting between New York in the 1980s and Scotland in the 16th century, this movie tells the story of a bunch of immortal swordsmen who battle for supremacy over the years.

The film was a huge hit and cult classic and had six sequels releases after the first one was a huge success. Currently a remake is in production. The movie also spawned live action and several comic and TV adaptations over the years.

Microgaming games publisher David Reynolds said, “Highlander is considered as one of the greatest cult hits in the history of cinema. It has an action packed story line with rock inspired compositions that made it a great theme for our new online slot.”

He added, “The game studio is doing its best, so that the slot is able to capture and deliver all of the movie’s magic. The game will have features that incorporate the gritty NYC and historical Scottish islands, with great guitar tracks.”

This agreement was brokered by none other than Creative Licensing Corporation, and the game is all set to release on December 6th.

Creative Licensing director of business development Stephanie Kupperman commented, “Many of the iconic characters from the original classic have been featured in this slot. You will see Roxanne Hart as Brenda Wyatt, Lambert as Connor MacLeod, and Clancy Brown as The Kurgan.
