The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) recently announced that local resident Michael Redmile is the most recent winner of a huge lottery prize in the province.
Redmile hails from Quesnel and is the lucky recipient of a $1 million guaranteed prize from Lotto 6/49. The winner advised that he intends to enjoy the money with his family as well as contribute to local communities.
British Columbia’s Lotto 6/49 is popular across the country and holds regular draws every Wednesday and Saturday.
Each draw includes a guaranteed $1 million prize that goes to a randomly selected ticket holder. In 2021 alone, players in the province claimed over $99 million in cash rewards from the game.
The Winning Way
Redmile won his prize from the December 11, 2021 draw and answered some questions after arriving at a BCLC prize centre to claim his winnings. The family man shared among his many plans, he wants to acquire a new side-by-side for himself and his daughters.
He also revealed that he intends to fulfil his passion for helping others by giving back to his local community. Redmile recalled that he had bought his ticket and discovered his good fortune at Frank’s Grocery Store where he was struck with disbelief when all his numbers came up on the screen.
He had to check the ticket a few more times to confirm that he wasn’t mistaken and when it dawned on him that he had truly won, he immediately called his father to share the good news.
B.C.’s Winning Streak
Redmile is only one of a recent series of winners revealed by the BCLC. Surrey couple Arthur and Margaret Lyon won a $1 million Lotto 6/49 prize in November 2021 and Susan Dyson from Vancouver claimed her $1 million prize in January 2022. BCLC has also made massive contributions to the local community.
