Sticking with the plan worked out for one lucky Toronto resident who has won a $20 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot by using the same numbers he has played for over thirty years.
Stephen Dixon from Scarborough shared that he had been playing his winning number combination for 36 years.
"I started playing these numbers with Wintario and migrated them over to Lotto 6/49. The numbers I play are significant family dates," he explained in an official Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) release.
Dixon said that his wife was struck with disbelief when the prize that she had initially thought was only $20,000 turned out to be worth so much more.
"I was at the store running errands when I stopped to check my ticket. When I saw the ‘Big Winner’ screen, I assumed the $20 million that appeared was an advertisement for the next draw. Then the store clerk checked the ticket for me and said, 'Oh my God, you’ve won the big one!' and she started dancing and cheering," he recalled.
BC’s Biggest Online Winner Crowned
A BC resident is set for life after using a convenient online service led them to a $31 million Lotto Max jackpot.
Jennifer Cole of West Kelowna says her decision to use a BCLC online lottery subscription on the crown’s PlayNow.com website was “one of the best of her life.”
After securing her subscription in May of 2022, it only took a few months for Cole to claim a massive $31 million jackpot from the July 8 Lotto Max draw.
This is the largest online prize ever awarded in BC, but far from the biggest in the country.
“My family initially thought it was a smaller amount, but once they woke up, I told them I won the jackpot. They were very excited,” Cole recalled.
The new multi-millionaire said that she hadn’t made any concrete plans for the money yet, but that travelling is definitely in her future.

Greentube Sets up Shop in Ontario
Greentube is set to bring even more variety to the rapidly growing Ontario iGaming market after receiving a supplier licence from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
