Mother and son, Lorraine and Gregory, have been pitting their combined luck against the enormous odds of the lottery in Ancaster, Ontario, for a decade now.

Their efforts finally paid off when they recently snagged the OLG’s guaranteed $1 Million Prize for the Feb. 3 Lotto 6/49 draw thanks to a winning ticket purchased at Avondale on Garner Road in Ancaster.

Lorraine had checked their ticket used the OLG Lottery App from home. “I looked at the screen and it was hard to believe” she exclaimed.

She immediately called Gregory whose wife answered the call and had to wake him up. Gregory recounted his reaction, saying, “I sprang out of bed, I was wide awake at that point. We went straight to my mom’s house to see for ourselves. It was surreal!

Gregory said the win would enhance his life but was certain it would not change him.

This is an incredible blessing” he said.

Lorraine stated that she intends to establish an educational fund for her grandchildren while Gregory has no definite plans at this stage and plans to take his time making some decisions.
