A $20 lottery scratch ticket has handed a Manitoba couple a $100,000 windfall.
Barry and Deborah LeClaire from Grand Marais say they were taken by surprise by their lucky win, something that they double and triple-checked before they truly believed it.
“I scratched the ticket and thought, ‘Did I win $100,000?’ I read the back of the ticket, I checked the ticket again, then I went and got a magnifying glass to make sure I was reading everything correctly,” Barry recalled.
“It took a little while to sink in. A part of me still can’t really believe it,” he continued.
The LeClaires purchased their $20 Black Pearls Zing ticket at the Red River Co-op on Regent Avenue in Winnipeg. The fortunate pair said they intend to use the prize money winnings to improve their home and keep the rest in the bank for “an even better retirement.”
