Jobindeep Singh probably didn’t expect much when he bought his first Zing instant scratch lottery ticket from a Calgary Circle K. However, in news shared by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), the lucky first-time buyer got back much more than he bargained for

Singh purchased the winning ticket on Dec. 17, 2021, thinking that a win would be a great thing to have as the end of his university term approached.

"It was Christmas so I thought I would try the Christmas tickets, and people always buy The Big Spin tickets,” Singh recalled.

The $5 Big Spin tickets hold the potential to reward players can with cash prizes or the coveted “Spin Win" where spinning an animated prize wheel at their local lottery retailer can mean massive rewards.

As explained in a WCLC news release,

"If the player’s Spin Win prize is a 'Big Spin,' they win $10,000 plus a chance to spin a real wheel at their very own event. The winner will leave the spin event with at least another $100,000, and possibly up to $500,000."

Singh was dumbstruck when he scratched and uncovered a ‘Spin Win’. He admitted to checking the mobile app three times before he could overcome his disbelief.

The Calgary resident’s excitement and surprise grew further when he spun the animated prize wheel and realised that there was much more to win on top of the $10 000 he had already claimed.

Oh, I was happy. I’m an international student so going to school is very expensive for me,” he explained.

It was on April 29 2022 that Singh completed the final leg of his winning journey and stepped up to the real-life wheel, hitting a lucky spin that awarded him $250,000.

The student was elated about his win and shared that he intends to direct the funds towards his education.
